About My Ability Book
Inspiration for Children and Adults of all Abilities
My Ability Book features people of all abilities participating in sports and recreational activities. The storybook characters pursue their dreams and passions while living with disabilities and disorders such as autism, Down syndrome, amputation, low vision, and cerebral palsy.
My Ability Book was inspired by the Central Florida Dreamplex, a non-profit that provides opportunity and inclusion of all persons, regardless of ability, for sport, recreation, therapy, education, vocation, and employment.
Hello
My name is Kacie Short
I have a passion for all things creative and enjoy using my talents to provide for others in my community. I created My Ability Book by combining my knowledge as a pediatric Occupational Therapy Assistant, my experience as Creative Director at the Central Florida Dreamplex, and my skills honed over a 17-year career in Communications. I live with my husband and three children in Central Florida, where I am determined to bring joy and hope to those with disabilities and special needs.

The Best Part
Truly, the best part of writing My Ability Book is personally sharing it with others. I make sure to go above a simple book reading, and provide an engaging presentation touching on the process of writing and publishing a book, the importance of inclusion, and pursuing strengths and passions.
